How to ask the cards
One clear question
Ask about one thing that can really go either way. "Will he reach out this week?" works better than "What will happen with him?".
Choose your card
Take a breath, keep the question in mind, and pick the card that pulls you. Then trust the first one.
Read the leaning
Your card leans yes, no, or not yet. It shows the direction as things stand today, never a fixed fate.
How I read a yes or no card
A yes or no tarot reading is the simplest reading there is, and the easiest to get wrong. One card, one question, one lean. I read the card the way I would at my table: a bright, forward-moving card (The Sun, the Aces, the Two of Cups) says yes; a blocked or painful one (The Tower, the Ten of Swords) says no; and a card about hidden things or waiting (The Moon, the Two of Swords, The Hanged Man) says not yet, which is an answer too, just not the one you wanted to hear.
What makes it work is the question. "Will he text me this week?" has a lean. "What should I do about him?" does not, and no card can give a yes or a no to it. If you need a sign, ask for one thing at a time, pick your card, and take the first answer. Then, if you want to know what is behind it, the three-card reading on the same question is where the cards start to talk.
Which cards mean yes, which mean no, and which refuse the question: I keep the full lists, card by card, in my guide to yes or no tarot, and every card's own page is in the tarot card meanings.
What your answer means
The situation leans toward what you asked. The way is open, though it still needs you to walk through it.
It leans away from it, at least as things stand today. That is information, not a sentence: it tells you where not to wait.
The answer is still being decided, often by a choice someone has not made yet.
Questions about yes or no tarot
How does yes or no tarot work? +
You hold one clear question in mind, choose a single card, and read its leaning: some cards lean toward yes, some toward no, and a few say the answer is not settled yet. One card gives you the direction, not the whole story.
Is a yes or no tarot reading accurate? +
A yes or no card shows the leaning of the situation as it stands today, never a guarantee. People and choices can change. If the answer surprises you, a 3-card reading on the same question shows what is behind it.
Which tarot cards mean yes, no or not yet? +
Cards like The Sun, The Star, The World, the Ace of Cups, the Two of Cups and the Ten of Cups lean clearly toward yes. The Tower, The Devil, the Three of Swords, the Ten of Swords and the Five of Pentacles lean toward no. The Moon, The Hanged Man, the Two of Swords and the Seven of Cups say not yet: something is still hidden or undecided. The full lists, card by card, are in my guide to yes or no tarot.
Is yes or no tarot accurate 100 percent? +
No, and anyone who promises that is selling something. A single card is honest about the lean of a situation today; it cannot see a choice that has not been made yet. That is why I never promise an outcome, and why the full 3-card reading looks at what is behind the answer, not only at the answer.
Can I pick a card instead of having one drawn for me? +
Yes, that is how this page works: the deck is shuffled for your question and you choose one of three face-down cards. Picking the card yourself is part of the reading, the same as at my table.
Can I ask the same question twice? +
You can, but the first card is usually the honest one. Drawing again and again until you get the answer you want only tells you how much you want it. Ask a different, more precise question instead.
Is this yes or no tarot free? +
Yes. Drawing your card is free and needs no sign-up. If you want the full answer, I can send you a free 3-card reading on the same question by email.
